Drei Pferde sind bei einem Brand auf einer der größten Miniaturpferdefarmen Großbritanniens gestorben.

Drei Scheunen auf der Rosaphia Horses/Willock Farm in Wisbech St Mary, Cambridgeshire waren beteiligt, als das Feuer brach am 17./18. Juni gegen Mitternacht aus.

Die Farm beherbergt die Miniaturpferdezüchterin Samantha Wheatley, ihren Ehemann David und die Kinder Charlotte und Sophia. Während alle Personen erfasst wurden, ging der Großteil der Ausrüstung des Arbeitsbetriebs verloren.

Am vergangenen Donnerstag (18. Juli) hat Amanda Breakell, eine Freundin der Familie, aufgebaut eine JustGiving-Seite um Mittel zu beschaffen, um wichtige Dinge zu ersetzen. Innerhalb von 24 Stunden war mehr als die Hälfte des Ziels von 5.000 Pfund aufgebracht worden.

Amanda sagte H&H Samantha wa s „am Boden zerstört“von dem, was passiert war.

„Da es Sommer war, waren die meisten Pferde draußen, aber es waren drei im Stall – ein Show-Hengstfohlen, das für den Ring vorbereitet wurde, eine amerikanische Stute, die sie importiert hatte, und ein weiteres Pony, das gerade kastriert worden war und alle drei verloren waren, " Sie sagte.

„Sie haben alle Nebengebäude verloren, die Traktoren, die Stallungen – jeder Teppich, jede Decke und jede Bürste ist weg, es ist nicht einmal ein Hufpickel mehr da. Gott sei Dank war es nicht Winter, sonst wäre der ganze Stallhof voll gewesen und der Verlust wäre enorm gewesen.“

“the whole situation is absolutely tragic, i just can’t put it into words,” amanda said. “i have know sam for years, she bought her first miniature from me and she’s my best friend - i couldn’t just sit by and not do anything, so i set up the justgiving page.

“i’m an end stage kidney patient and sam helped me when i needed it - she took on 24 miniatures i owned, which is a big ask - we will rebuild and get her back on her feet.”

amanda said the support received so far had been brilliant and a range of items had already been donated to keep the yard running, including brooms, buckets and wheelbarrows. she added that items that have been donated but are not needed will be sold in an online auction to raise money for other goods.

“they have insurance cover but i hope the farming community will also rally round as much as the miniature horse community has and help david out, he’s lost his tractors and still has wheat and hay to get in,” she said.

crews from cambridgeshire, norfolk and lincolnshire spent the night trying to bring the large fire under control, with local road closures having to be put in place.
